Social Cat alternative for brand-owned UGC you can run as ads
Social Cat is one of the few platforms in this category that puts real numbers on a public page, and that deserves credit up front. Three plans, Essentials at $99 a month, Performance at $199 and Pro at $299, each capped by how many creator collaborations you can run in a month: 5, 15 and 30. Annual billing is advertised as two months free, there is a free trial, and the pricing page states plainly: cancel anytime, no commitments. Set that against Upfluence, which publishes no rate at all and asks for a twelve month minimum, and Social Cat looks like the easier thing to try.
Two details on that page matter more than the headline price. The first is that every plan includes content usage rights, which is not the category norm and is a genuine strength. The second is the unit being metered. Social Cat counts collaborations, not deliverables, and states unlimited content per collaboration. If one creator films four clips for you, that is still one slot. For a brand that wants volume from a small number of creators, that is a better deal than any per-video rate card in this market.
Where the two products separate is what a creator is selected for. Social Cat is a micro-influencer platform: it runs gifted and paid collaborations on Instagram and TikTok, and its own homepage leads with influencers and their audiences. UGCMarketplace does not select creators at all. It writes the brief and the script you hand to whoever you do hire, and describes the kind of creator to look for, so the ask is specific before any collaboration starts. Neither model is better in the abstract. They are answers to different questions, and the rest of this page is about which question you are asking. Social Cat is a micro-influencer collaboration platform that charges $99, $199 or $299 a month for up to 5, 15 or 30 creator collaborations, with content usage rights included on every plan and no contract. It is one of the cheapest published entry points in the category, and unusually it meters collaborations rather than videos, so one creator producing several pieces still uses one slot. The trade is how creators are selected and paid: Social Cat is built around Instagram and TikTok creators running gifted or paid collaborations, so you are partly buying access to an audience. UGCMarketplace is not a competing platform, it is the brief you still write before any collaboration starts: describe your product and it generates the UGC brief, the scene-by-scene script and a creator profile, free for the first one and $29 a month for unlimited. Choose Social Cat for the collaboration itself. Write the brief first regardless, on either platform, because a vague ask is what makes a cheap plan expensive.
Social Cat is strongest as a low-cost micro-influencer platform for gifted and paid collaborations on Instagram and TikTok, with usage rights included and no contract. UGCMarketplace is the briefing step rather than a competitor to that: describe your product and it writes the UGC brief, the scene-by-scene video script, the technical spec and a profile of the creator to recruit, from free for the first brief and $29 a month for unlimited. You then take the brief into Social Cat, or wherever you run the collaboration.

Social Cat vs UGCMarketplace, honestly
A fair look at what each does well, including the things they do that we do not. We write the brief; some of these actually supply the creator.
| What matters | UGCMarketplace | Social Cat |
|---|---|---|
| Published pricing | First brief free with no account, then Pro $29 a month or Studio $79 a month | Published: $99, $199 and $299 a month |
| What the plan meters | Briefs and scripts generated | Collaborations per month, capped at 5, 15 or 30 |
| Creator fee | None. You pay the creator directly, on whatever terms you agree | Separate: gifted product or a paid fee on top, rate not published |
| Content licensing | Not supplied. The brief states the usage scope you need so you can agree it with the creator before filming | Content usage rights included on all plans |
| What creators are selected for | Not applicable. We do not select or vet creators; the brief describes the profile to go and recruit | Micro-influencers on Instagram and TikTok, audience led |
| Gifting campaigns | Not the model. We generate briefs, not campaigns or gifting logistics | Core motion. Gifted and paid collaborations both supported |
| Content per engagement | Not applicable. The brief specifies scenes and shots, not a content quota | States unlimited content per collaboration |
| Revisions | Regenerate the brief and script as many times as your plan allows | Not published |
| Contract minimum | None | None. States cancel anytime, no commitments |
| Stated network | None. We do not run a creator directory or database | 100,000 plus vetted influencers, and a 500K plus database figure |
| AI | Google Gemini writes the brief and script. The video is filmed by a real person you find and hire | Instagram, TikTok and Shopify |
| Best fit | Anyone about to brief a creator, on Social Cat or anywhere else | Social-first gifting and micro-influencer posts on a small budget |

In depth
What to know before you switch
How much does Social Cat cost?
Social Cat publishes three monthly plans. Essentials is $99 a month for up to 5 creator collaborations, 1,000 monthly invitations, 1 campaign and 1 team member. Performance is $199 for up to 15 collaborations, 2,500 invitations, up to 3 campaigns and 5 team members. Pro is $299 for up to 30 collaborations, 5,000 invitations, unlimited campaigns, 10 team members, a Top Brand Badge and priority support. All three include unlimited content per collaboration and content usage rights. Annual billing is advertised as two months free, which works out at ten months paid for twelve.
The number worth comparing across platforms is not the plan price, it is the platform cost per collaboration, and it only holds if you actually use the allowance.
What does Social Cat cost per collaboration?
| Plan | Monthly price | Collaborations included | Platform cost each at the cap | Effective monthly on annual billing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $99 | 5 | $19.80 | $82.50 |
| Performance | $199 | 15 | $13.27 | $165.83 |
| Pro | $299 | 30 | $9.97 | $249.17 |
Is Social Cat cheap once you count what the plan leaves out?
The platform fee is genuinely low. At the Pro cap it is about ten dollars per collaboration, which is one of the cheapest software costs in the category, and on annual billing it drops nearer eight. That is not the number that decides your budget, though, because the plan buys the software and the introduction, not the content.
Social Cat runs both gifted and paid collaborations. On a gifted campaign the creator keeps the product, so your real cost is the landed cost of goods plus shipping for every creator you send to. On a paid campaign you pay the creator a fee on top of the subscription, and Social Cat does not publish a creator rate, so that line is unknown until you are inside and negotiating. Either way, the honest way to compare is fully loaded cost per usable licensed video, not the plan price.
The second thing the plan meters is throughput. Five collaborations a month on Essentials is a hard ceiling, and if you need twelve videos this month you are on Performance whether or not you wanted the other features. Consumption matters too: at half usage, Essentials costs $49.50 per collaboration rather than $19.80, and Performance $28.43 rather than $13.27. Allowance-based pricing is only cheap for buyers who fill the allowance. We broke the general version of this down in our guide to what a UGC platform subscription leaves out.
Does Social Cat include content usage rights?
Yes, and this is the strongest thing on the pricing page. Content usage rights are listed on all three plans, and the site describes built-in contracts and licensing so the brand owns the UGC its creators produce. That is better than a large part of this market. Shopify Collabs attaches no content license at all, which means a gifted post cannot legally carry ad spend without a separate negotiation, and several enterprise platforms publish no licensing terms anywhere on their public sites.
What to confirm before you scale, on Social Cat or anywhere else, is the scope of the grant rather than its existence. Usage rights is a phrase that covers everything from organic reposting to perpetual worldwide paid media including whitelisting. The clauses that decide whether a video is usable as an ad are term, territory, channels and whether paid amplification and Spark Ads are included. Get those four in writing before the first campaign, not after a video performs. Our UGC contract and usage rights breakdown sets out the seven clauses worth reading and the failure mode of each.
Is Social Cat influencer marketing or UGC content production?
It sells both, and its center of gravity is the first one. The homepage leads with influencers showcasing your brand through photos, stories and reels on Instagram, and offers an influencer gifting motion for getting products into creators' hands. It also states, correctly, that you get UGC with licensing included. Both things are true at once, which is exactly why brands buy it expecting one and receive the other.
The distinction that matters is what a creator is selected for. When the platform surfaces people by audience, you are buying distribution to somebody else's followers, and the follower count is the product. When the deliverable is a file you will put your own media spend behind, the creator's audience does nothing for you, and every dollar of reach premium in that rate is waste. Some of the best UGC creators have small audiences and no interest in growing them, because holding a phone steady and hitting a hook in four seconds is a different skill from building a following. We drew the full version of that line in UGC versus influencer marketing.
One related detail worth noticing on Social Cat's own site: the pricing page states 100,000 plus vetted influencers while the homepage states a 500K plus creator database. Those are two different numbers measuring two different things, a screened roster and a searchable index, and the gap is the same one we mapped across nine platforms in creator database versus marketplace. It is not a gotcha. It is a reminder to ask what it takes to be counted before reading a network size as supply you can book.
Social Cat vs UGCMarketplace: what each plan actually meters
| Platform | What the plan meters | Creator fee included? | License included? | Minimum term |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Social Cat | Collaborations per month (5 / 15 / 30) | No. Gifted product or a paid fee on top | Yes, on all plans | None. Cancel anytime |
| UGCMarketplace | Briefs and scripts generated | No. We pay no creator | No. We deliver no footage to license | None |
| SideShift | Creators hired, listings, invites | No | Not published | Monthly or annual |
| Insense | Campaigns and creators, plus 7 to 20 percent fee | No | Yes, on approval and payment | Monthly to annual |
| Trend | Credits, expiring 12 months after purchase | Yes | Yes, on approval | Prepaid packs |
| Twirl | Video credits, minimum first purchase of 4 | Yes | Yes, on final deliverables | None on self-serve |
| Upfluence | Custom quoted platform fee | No | Not published | 12 months on annual plans |
Should you choose Social Cat or a UGC marketplace?
Choose Social Cat if your program is social-first and your budget is tight. At $99 a month with no commitment, included licensing and a gifting motion, it is a low-risk way for a small DTC brand on Shopify to get creators posting about a product and to come away with footage as well. If you have physical product you can afford to send out, gifting genuinely lowers the cash cost of a campaign, and the collaboration-based metering rewards you for finding creators who deliver several pieces each. For a brand testing whether creator content works at all, that is a sensible first spend.
Choose a UGC marketplace when the deliverable is the point. If the plan is to brief a specific hook, get several variations to test in Meta and TikTok ads, and keep running the winners with media spend behind them, you want creators selected on filming ability, a brief structure that produces comparable variations, revisions built into the order, and identical licensing on every asset without a per-creator negotiation. That is a production pipeline rather than a collaboration marketplace.
The honest summary is that these two products stop overlapping the moment you decide who is distributing the content. If the creator's audience is doing the distributing, Social Cat's model is the cheaper and more natural fit. If your ad account is doing the distributing, you are buying files, and everything you pay for audience is money that never reaches the creative. Plenty of brands end up running both, using gifting for social proof and a marketplace for the ads, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Why brands pick UGCMarketplace
What a brief generator is good for
The brief written properly
Objective, audience, tone, key messages, must-have and avoid, plus a scene-by-scene short-form script with a hook for the first three seconds. Written by AI in about a minute, and we say so.
We do not supply creators
There is no roster here and no booking. The brief describes the creator to recruit, where to look and how to approach them, and the hiring is yours to do. Saying that plainly beats implying otherwise.
Briefs you own, cheaply
Your first brief is free with no account. Pro is $29 a month and Studio $79, both unlimited with watermark-free downloads, and the briefs are yours to use commercially.
