COMPARE // SOONA

soona alternative for creator-filmed UGC ads you own

soona is one of the more interesting companies in this category because it is not really competing on the same axis as everyone else. It runs physical studios, it employs photographers, and it sells product photos and video clips at a published per-asset price. In 2026 it also became the largest UGC buyer in the market by acquiring Trend.io, and it now sells creator-filmed UGC alongside its studio work under one login. Its stated position on AI is unusually clear for the category: AI is used across planning and post-production, but soona says it does not put AI into the content itself.

UGCMarketplace is narrower on purpose. There is no studio, no photographer on staff, and no white cyclorama. You post a brief, we match you with vetted real creators who film your product in their own kitchen or bathroom or gym, and you receive short-form video and photos that your brand owns outright with a written paid-ad license. That narrowness is the point: the content is meant to look like a person filmed it, because that is the format that keeps winning on TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and Meta.

The honest way to read this comparison is that the two products overlap on UGC and barely overlap anywhere else. Below is what soona actually charges, verified on its own site, and where each option is genuinely the better purchase.

The short answer

Last updated July 2026

soona is a US creative platform that combines a physical photo and video studio with the UGC creator network it acquired when it bought Trend.io. Studio work is priced per asset: a $149 studio pass per booking, $39 per photo, and $93 per video clip, with memberships at $13 or $49 a month billed annually that waive the booking fee. soona UGC videos run $89 to $259 each depending on the creator tier you pick. UGCMarketplace does one job instead of three, matching you with vetted real creators who film in their own homes, on published plans from $99, with a paid-ad license written into every order. If you need clean product photography on a white background, soona wins outright. If you need a steady volume of native creator video for paid social, the marketplace is the better buy.

soona is strongest as a studio: per-asset pricing, professional lighting, models and stylists on call, and integrations into Amazon and Shopify listings. It also now owns Trend.io, so it sells creator UGC too. UGCMarketplace is a pure UGC production marketplace: vetted real creators filming in real homes, deeper niche and style matching, published plans from $99, and a paid-ad license on every order.

In depth

What to know before you switch

How much does soona cost?

soona is one of the few companies in this category that publishes real numbers, which deserves credit. The pricing splits into two halves that are billed differently, and the half most brands miss is that a membership does not include any production.

On the studio side you either pay a $149 studio pass per booking, or you hold a membership that waives it. Basic is $13 a month billed annually and Standard is $49 a month billed annually. Assets are then charged per item on top: $39 per photo and $93 per video clip on every tier, with premium photo editing at $9 each, a video pro edit at $99 each, and video add-ons such as music, graphics, text, and crop at $49 each. Standard makes the premium photo edits and the video add-ons free and drops delivery to 24 hours.

On the UGC side, soona states that video prices range from $89 to $259 per video, set by the creator level you choose, with rates pre-negotiated so you are not haggling per creator. All figures verified on soona.co in August 2026.

Did soona buy Trend.io?

Yes. soona states on its own UGC page that its current product was built from what it learned acquiring Trend.io, and that user-generated content at soona is powered by Trend. The Trend.io site is still live and still selling its own credit packages, and its support address is now [email protected], which is the clearest confirmation that the two are one company.

For buyers this matters in a specific way. Trend still sells credit packages of $550, $1,045, $1,980, and $3,872, working out to roughly $91.67 down to $69.14 per video, and those credits still expire 12 months after purchase. So the same company now sells UGC video two ways at two different prices, and the cheaper route at volume is the Trend packages rather than the soona per-video rate, provided you can spend the balance before it expires. We wrote up what the deal changes for existing customers in what the soona and Trend.io merger means for your UGC budget, and the older package math is on our Trend.io alternative page.

Is soona good for UGC?

It is credible, and it is getting better because it bought a company that already did this well. soona vets hard, saying it accepts roughly 35% of creator applicants, it attaches an unlimited worldwide license to content you approve, and it does not lock UGC behind an annual commitment. Its public stance that AI stays out of the finished content also matters more than it sounds, because in US advertising a testimonial delivered by a person who does not exist is a legal problem and not just an authenticity one.

The honest limitation is scale of match. soona describes its UGC roster as hundreds of creators, which is a deliberate quality decision rather than a failure, but it does constrain how tightly you can match a creator to a narrow niche when you are ordering many videos at once. If you sell one product to a broad audience, that roster is plenty. If you are testing eight angles across three customer segments and want a visibly different person for each, a larger matched pool gets you further.

The other thing to weigh is focus. soona is building a platform that does studio, UGC, listing analytics, competitive analysis, digital asset management, and AI generation. That breadth is genuinely useful if you want one vendor. It also means UGC is one of six products rather than the only one.

What is the difference between soona and UGCMarketplace?

The difference is where the camera is. soona's original and still strongest product is a controlled studio: professional lighting, a photographer, bookable models and stylists, and a clean result you could put on an Amazon listing or a product page. You ship your product to them, or to a creator, and a trained person shoots it.

UGCMarketplace never puts a professional set behind your product. A vetted real creator films it where they actually use it, on a phone, in their own light. The result is technically less polished by design, and that is exactly why it performs as an ad. Paid social rewards content that does not look like an advertisement, which is a different job from making a product look immaculate.

The practical consequence is that these two are complements more often than substitutes. Plenty of brands should buy studio photography once, for the listing and the site, and then buy creator-filmed UGC videos continuously, because ad creative burns out and catalog images do not. If that is your situation, the question is not which vendor wins, it is which budget line each purchase belongs to. Our product photography for ads page covers where lifestyle creator photography does and does not replace a studio shoot.

When is soona the better choice?

Buy soona when the output needs to be controlled. If you need on-white catalog images, consistent lighting across 40 SKUs, a stylist, a hand model, or photography that will sit on an Amazon listing for three years, no UGC marketplace competes and we will not pretend otherwise. At $39 a photo with a $149 booking fee, or no booking fee on a $13 membership, that is a genuinely good price for studio work.

soona is also the better call if you specifically want one vendor for everything, or if the Amazon, Shopify, and Canva integrations and listing analytics save your team real hours. Those are features we do not have and are not trying to build.

Buy UGCMarketplace when the output needs to feel unproduced, when you need enough different faces and settings to run a real creative test, and when you want the paid-ad license and full ownership settled in writing on every single order rather than checked per campaign. Our plans are published at Starter $99, Growth $249, and Scale $599 on the pricing page, with nothing to prepay and nothing that expires.

Does soona use AI to make content?

soona says no, at least not in the finished content. Its position, stated on its own UGC page, is that AI runs in the background across pre-production planning and post-production automation, but not in the content itself unless a customer asks for it. It also sells an AI Studio product with generation credits, so the tooling exists and is opt-in.

UGCMarketplace takes the harder line because our entire product depends on it. Every creator is an identity-verified real person aged 18 or older, and nothing on the platform is AI-generated. That is a commercial position first. Under the FTC Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465, in effect since 21 October 2024, a testimonial that misrepresents being made by a person who does not exist is prohibited whether a human or a generative model produced the fake. The usage rights and licensing that ship with each order are written on the assumption that a real person filmed the footage, because one did.

Good questions

soona vs UGCMarketplace, answered

Two prices, depending on which side of the business you buy from. A studio video clip is $93 base, with a pro edit at $99 and add-ons at $49 each. Creator-filmed UGC video is $89 to $259 per video, set by the creator level you choose. Verified on soona.co in August 2026.
Yes, since the acquisition. soona says its UGC product is powered by Trend and was built from what it learned buying Trend.io, and the Trend.io support address is now [email protected]. Trend.io still runs as its own site with its own credit packages, so the same company sells UGC at two different price structures.
No. You can pay a $149 studio pass per booking with no membership. The memberships at $13 or $49 a month billed annually waive that fee and speed up delivery, so they pay for themselves from roughly the second booking of the year. Production costs are billed on top either way.
Yes. soona states that UGC content you approve carries an unlimited worldwide license for all platforms and purposes. Confirm the scope in writing for your own records before you put spend behind a video, which is good practice with any vendor, not a criticism of this one.
It depends on volume and which soona route you take. soona per-video UGC starts at $89. Trend credit packages, now the same company, get to about $69 per video at the largest tier if you spend the balance within 12 months. UGCMarketplace plans start at $99 a month with the deliverable scope shown up front and nothing that expires, which usually wins for brands that cannot forecast a year of content.
