FOR BRANDS // TESTIMONIAL VIDEO PRICING

Testimonial video cost: testimonial video production pricing, video testimonial software cost, and UGC creator rates compared

Every page that answers this question is written by somebody who sells one of the three answers, which is why the ranges are so wide and so useless. You will read $99 on one page and $20,000 on the next, and both are technically true, because they are pricing different objects.

So we did the boring thing instead. On 3 September 2026 we opened the pricing pages of the vendors that rank for this query and wrote down only what they publish themselves, then converted each one to a unit you can actually budget against. Where a vendor publishes nothing, we say so rather than repeating a figure somebody screenshotted in 2023.

The finding that matters is that the three routes are not competing offers. They are metered differently. Collection software charges you per response gathered, whether or not the response is any good. A production company charges per finished video and absorbs the risk of the shoot. A creator charges per deliverable and then charges again for the right to run it as an ad. Comparing their headline prices side by side, which is what every roundup does, tells you almost nothing.

One cost sits inside all three and is quoted by none of them: the script. Not a word-for-word monologue, but the ordered question set and the objection you want answered in the first ten seconds. Get that wrong and you have paid full price for footage of a happy customer saying nothing a prospect needed to hear. That is the step UGCMarketplace writes, and it is the cheapest line in the whole budget.

The short answer

Last updated September 2026

A testimonial video costs one of three very different things in 2026, because the word covers three products sold on three meters. Testimonial collection software is billed per response you gather: Boast publishes $50 a month on annual billing for 600 responses a year, which works out to $1.00 per response collected. Production companies bill per finished video and mostly publish nothing at all, so their range only exists in third-party roundups. Creator-led UGC testimonials are billed per deliverable plus usage rights, paid straight to the creator. We checked all three on 3 September 2026. The number almost nobody prices separately is the script, the question set that decides whether the footage is usable at all, and that is the part UGCMarketplace generates for free on the first brief and $29 a month after that.

In depth

What to know about testimonial video cost

How much does a testimonial video cost?

It depends entirely on which of three products you are buying, and they are not substitutes. Testimonial collection software starts around $50 a month on annual billing and is metered by responses gathered. Production companies bill per finished video and rarely publish a rate. Creator-led UGC testimonials are paid per deliverable directly to the creator, plus a separate fee for usage rights if you intend to run the video as an ad.

The reason published ranges swing from under $100 to five figures is that they are averaging across all three. A self-serve tool that emails your customers a recording link and a crew that flies to your client office are both called testimonial video, and pretending they occupy the same price scale is the single biggest source of confusion in this category.

Before comparing anything, decide which problem you have. If you have many happy customers and no way to reach them, you have a collection problem and software is the answer. If you have one flagship customer and a launch, you have a production problem, and our comparison of testimonial video services shows which production companies publish a price and which make you book a call first. If you need volume for paid social and the polish matters less than the authenticity, you want creators, and our page on UGC testimonials covers that route in detail.

How much does video testimonial software cost?

This is the only one of the three routes where the whole category publishes real numbers, so it is the only one we can put in a table honestly. We read both pricing pages on 3 September 2026.

Boast prices by responses, which makes it the one vendor here you can convert to a true unit cost. Vocal Video publishes clear plan prices but we could not find a published response quota attached to each tier, so we have deliberately left its unit column blank rather than invent a divisor.

What does a testimonial actually cost per response?

Vendor and planPublished priceIncluded responsesCost per response
Boast Basic (annual)$50 a month600 a year$1.00
Boast Team (annual)$100 a month1,800 a year$0.67
Boast Premium (annual)$208 a month6,000 a year$0.42
Boast Basic (monthly)$59 a month50 a month$1.18
Boast Team (monthly)$119 a month150 a month$0.79
Boast Premium (monthly)$249 a month500 a month$0.50

All figures were read directly from boast.io and vocalvideo.com on 3 September 2026. Vocal Video also publishes a free tier at $0, and Boast advertises a 14 day free trial with no card required.

Two things fall out of that table that the vendors do not put in their headlines. First, paying monthly instead of annually costs you more per response at every single Boast tier, from $1.00 up to $1.18 at the entry level. Second, a response is a submitted recording, not a finished testimonial. Some share of what you collect will be unusable, so your real cost per publishable testimonial is the table figure divided by your hit rate. If half the submissions are usable, double every number in the last column.

That hit rate is not luck. It is almost entirely decided by the questions you put in front of the customer, which is the one input none of these tools price.

Do testimonial video production companies publish their prices?

Mostly they do not, and it is worth checking rather than assuming, because the roundups quote them as though they do. We ran the check on 3 September 2026.

Vidico, which ranks for this query with its own testimonial video cost guide, publishes no price for its production service. Its pricing page states that your goals, content styles and volume set the price and invites you to take a two minute quiz to see a range. The only published figures anywhere on that page belong to a separate product, its Vidi app, at $24 a photo and $63 a video, which is a different service from the custom production the rest of the site sells.

Collabstr, which publishes creator rates, returned a 403 to us from behind Cloudflare, so we could not read it and will not quote a figure for it.

This pattern is normal at the production end of the market and it is not sinister. Custom production genuinely varies by shoot day, location, travel, crew size and edit complexity, so a rate card would be misleading. But it does mean that any specific production figure you read, including the widely repeated three to seven thousand dollar band, is somebody else summary of quotes they did not publish. Treat it as a shape rather than a price, get two or three real quotes for your actual brief, and expect the spread between them to be wide.

One cost driver is publishable and worth knowing before you ask for quotes: batching. Crew, kit and setup are fixed costs for a shoot day, so recording three or five customers in one session spreads them. If you can line up several customers in one city on one day, ask for that quote specifically.

What is the cheapest way to get customer testimonial videos?

Asking customers you already have, using software that sends them a recording link, is the cheapest route by a wide margin, and the table above is the honest evidence for that. At under a dollar per response collected on annual billing, the marginal cost of one more testimonial is close to nothing once you are paying for the seat.

The catch is that cheap collection is only cheap if people respond and if what they record is usable. Both of those depend on things the software does not do for you: who you ask, when you ask them, and what you ask. A tool that gathers six thousand responses a year at forty two cents each is excellent value and completely wasted if the prompt is tell us what you think of our product.

The creator route sits in the middle on price and wins on a different axis. You are not waiting on a customer to feel like filming, and you can specify the format, the hook and the objection to answer, which you cannot do with a real customer without coaching them into sounding scripted. The trade is that a paid creator is not your customer, so US disclosure rules apply and the material connection has to be stated clearly in the video. Our page on UGC usage rights covers the licensing side, and video testimonials covers the format choices.

The expensive route buys you control and polish. If the video is going on a homepage above the fold or fronting an enterprise sales cycle, that is often worth it. If it is going into a paid social test where you will need six variants by Friday, it is not.

What does a testimonial video script cost?

Nothing, in every quote you will receive, which is precisely the problem. The script is bundled invisibly into a production fee, left to you entirely by collection software, and assumed to be your job when you hire a creator. So it is the one input with no price attached and the largest effect on whether the money you spent produced anything you can use.

A testimonial script is not a monologue to be read aloud. Anyone reading a testimonial to camera sounds like they are reading a testimonial to camera, and that kills the format. What you actually need is an ordered question set, the specific objection you want dismantled in the first ten seconds, the proof point the customer should name out loud, and a shot and audio spec so the footage cuts together with the rest of your library.

That is what UGCMarketplace generates. Describe the product and the doubt that stalls your buyers, and it writes the testimonial brief, the scene-by-scene script including the opening three seconds, the technical requirements, and a description of the creator to go and recruit if you are taking the creator route. Your first one is free and needs no account. Pro is $29 a month for unlimited briefs and clean downloads, Studio is $79 a month.

We should be clear about what we are not, because this page compares vendors and it would be dishonest to blur it. We do not film, collect, host or edit testimonial video, we run no creator directory, and we do not supply customers or footage. Whichever of the three routes above you pick, somebody still has to decide what gets asked. That is the part we do, and against a $1,188 a year software seat or a four figure shoot day it is the cheapest decision in the budget to get right.

Good questions

Questions about testimonial video pricing

It depends which of three products you buy. Collection software starts at about $50 a month on annual billing, metered by responses gathered, which is roughly $1.00 per response at Boast entry tier and $0.42 at its highest annual tier. Production companies bill per finished video and mostly publish no rate. Creator-led UGC testimonials are paid per deliverable plus usage rights. All software figures here were read first-party on 3 September 2026.
Because the same phrase covers three products on three different meters. A self-serve tool that emails customers a recording link and a crew that travels to a client office are both called testimonial video. Ranges that run from under $100 to five figures are averaging across all three, so they describe the category rather than your quote.
Per unit collected, yes, by a wide margin. The trade is that software gathers whatever your customers choose to record, while a production company delivers a finished, edited video to a standard you agreed in advance. Software wins on volume and marginal cost, production wins on control and polish.
A response is one recording submitted by a customer, not a finished testimonial you can publish. Some share will be unusable, so divide the published cost per response by your usable rate to get the real number. If half are usable, your true cost per publishable testimonial is double the sticker figure.
Yes. US rules require any material connection between you and the person endorsing your product to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, in the video itself and in the ad copy where practical. UGCMarketplace writes that requirement into the brief, but the disclosure obligation belongs to you as the advertiser.
No. We generate the testimonial brief and the scene-by-scene script, including the question set, the objection to answer first and the technical spec. We do not film, collect, host or edit video, and we do not supply creators or customers. The first brief is free with no account, then $29 a month on Pro.
